What Remains After the Fire

Most men may never understand what it feels like when the body pauses in response, even as doctors insist there is nothing wrong; no hormonal imbalance, no medical explanation, nothing. For nearly six years, I have lived with the stillness of fire that began not after an illness or injury, but after the most profound spiritual awakening of my life.

The event unfolded as a complete rupture of ordinary consciousness. A massive surge of energy, like a serpent coiling and rising along my spine, tore through every chakra until my crown split open. What followed was a cascade of light, as if every particle of my being erupted into ecstatic union, each atom proclaiming with clarity and force: I AM GOD. My body convulsed as though gripped by a seizure, yet my inner experience was one of perfect union with the entire cosmos. Every movement of mine was the movement of the universe, and every movement of the universe was my own.

That experience was ignited months after receiving darshan from Paramahamsa Vishwananda in 2019. Life has not returned to what it once was. The challenges below the waist have resisted every attempt at permanent resolution. Sessions with a chi master provided brief relief, but soon after, the absent spark would return. And yet, despite this, my relationship to the situation is not one of despair. Desire for vitality remains, but acceptance has settled in deeper than disappointment.

For men whose identity is tightly woven to the fire of physical intimacy, such a loss could feel devastating. For me, the years of spiritual preparation softened the impact. I knew that awakening could arrive with consequences. It was not only bliss that I had trained for, but the burning away of old attachments.

Ironically, from a fading of the physical echo came an experience of Tantra more profound than any physical act could offer. Without the presence of another, I encountered the total union of my inner masculine and feminine, the Anima and Animus dissolving into wholeness. The union was so complete that it redefined intimacy itself, showing me that sexuality is not bound to flesh but can open into direct communion with the soul.

Not long after that experience, I faced the deaths of colleagues and a high school friend. The timing was a reminder that awakening is never an escape from life’s fragility. Transformation and loss often arrive hand in hand.

The path that led to that awakening back in 2019 was punishing at times; physically, emotionally, mentally. Yet when I ask myself if I would choose differently, the answer remains no. I would walk this road again, and again, even when the body does not follow the heart, which many would find unbearable. Because what was given cannot be outweighed by what was taken.

Awakening strips away what is temporary to reveal what cannot be lost. Even if the body falters, the truth that was seen remains untouched.

Staring Perfection in the Face

Life unfolds with such precision that the mind struggles to grasp its vast orchestration. The perception of failure, regret, shame, and suffering dominates awareness, casting shadows over what is, at its core, an immaculate expression of existence. Each moment – whether embraced or resisted – carries the exact ingredients necessary for the unfolding of consciousness. Yet, the conditioned mind fixates on everything that appears to be going wrong, blind to the underlying intelligence at work.

Loss and gain, tragedy and triumph, despair and joy – these polarities form the rhythm of existence, much like the inhalation and exhalation of breath. Attempts to hold onto one and avoid the other only create suffering, for both are essential aspects of the whole. A divorce may seem like a failure, yet it may also be the precise catalyst needed for deeper self-realization. A lost job may ignite a path toward something more aligned. Even grief and devastation, as unbearable as they may seem, carve spaces within the soul for transformation.

The intellect rebels against such a notion. It demands explanations, seeking justice, fairness, and control. Yet life refuses to conform to human expectations. The waves crash as they will. The seasons turn without hesitation. The sun does not rise differently because of personal preferences. Everything operates with flawless precision, beyond human notions of right and wrong.

This does not mean passivity or indifference. Awakening to the perfection of life does not negate the impulse to act, heal, or create change. It deepens it. From a place of acceptance, actions arise not from resistance, but from clarity. Rather than fighting the current, there is an alignment with the flow, a movement that is both effortless and profound.

The paradox remain – that perfection is not what the mind expects. It does not mean everything feels pleasant or that suffering ceases to exist. It means that even suffering has its place. It means that whatever arises is not separate from the vast intelligence that moves all things. To see this is not to escape reality, but to meet it fully, beyond judgment, beyond resistance, beyond the illusion of disorder.

Perfection is staring back in every moment, waiting to be recognized.

Embracing the Wholeness of Emotions

Happiness, as it is often pursued, can feel like a fleeting dream—a constant chase for experiences that promise joy while running away from anything that feels uncomfortable. Yet, this pursuit can leave us fragmented, perpetually seeking and never arriving. The paradox of true happiness lies in the radical act of embracing all feelings, not just the pleasant ones.

Contentment is not the absence of discomfort; it is the presence of wholeness. Life offers a vast spectrum of emotions, each carrying its wisdom and significance. True happiness begins not when we suppress pain but fully meet it without resistance.

Imagine standing during a thunderstorm. Most would run for shelter, seeking safety from the discomfort of the rain. But what if, instead, you stood still, feeling the rain on your skin, hearing the rhythm of its fall, and witnessing its cleansing power? Embracing emotions is like this: a willingness to be with what is, not wishing it away but seeing its beauty and necessity.

When joy arises, celebrate it without clinging. When sadness visits, honour its presence without judgment. Anger, fear, excitement, and serenity all have their place in the dance of existence. Each emotion becomes a teacher, guiding us to deeper self-awareness and authenticity.

The secret is to observe emotions without becoming consumed by them. Like waves in the ocean, they rise and fall, but the essence of who we are—vast, still, and unshaken—remains constant. This shift in perspective transforms the way we experience life. Happiness is no longer a fleeting feeling tied to circumstances but an enduring sense of contentment rooted in presence.

When we no longer resist the full range of our humanity, happiness is no longer conditional. It becomes a state of being that arises from accepting life as it is—unfiltered, raw, and real. In this acceptance, a profound peace unfolds, transcending temporary highs and lows.

The journey to true happiness begins by welcoming all parts of ourselves. In every moment, every feeling, and every breath, there is an invitation to return to wholeness.

Happiness often appears as a destination—something to be attained by seeking pleasurable experiences, avoiding pain, and curating external conditions. Yet, this pursuit can feel elusive, as if true happiness constantly moves just beyond reach. Perhaps this is because happiness isn’t found in the suppression or control of emotions, but in embracing them all as integral aspects of our human experience.

Emotions are often categorized as “positive” or “negative,” with joy, love, and excitement praised, while sadness, anger, and fear are seen as obstacles to overcome. However, this dualistic view creates resistance. Denying so-called negative emotions only magnifies their intensity, embedding them deeper within the psyche. True contentment arises not from avoiding discomfort but by fully experiencing and accepting it without judgment.

Imagine sitting with sorrow as you might with an old friend—acknowledging its presence, listening to its message, and recognizing its role in your life. Sadness, when embraced, transforms from an adversary into a teacher. It illuminates where attachments or unmet desires linger and invites you to release the illusion of control. Similarly, anger, when approached without suppression or overindulgence, becomes a fierce energy capable of clarifying boundaries and catalyzing change.

Contentment is not denying the human condition but a deep surrender to its unfolding. This surrender doesn’t mean passivity; it is an active engagement with the present moment. By welcoming all emotions, the inner landscape transforms. Happiness is no longer confined to fleeting highs but instead becomes an abiding state of being—anchored in equanimity, rooted in authenticity.

In this light, happiness is not the absence of pain but the profound realization that all emotions—joy and sorrow, peace and unrest—are sacred facets of existence. Each one offers an opportunity for growth, insight, and connection. To find contentment within them is to see life as whole, unbroken, and imperfect.

By sitting with your emotions and embracing their entirety, you awaken to the simple truth: happiness is not found in resisting life but in meeting it fully.

Embracing Evolution Beyond Acceptance

In the grand expanse of existence, nature is a paradoxical entity, embodying acceptance while relentlessly pursuing change. Fear, often perceived as a negative emotion, does not simply vanish upon reaching a state of God-realization or profound spiritual awakening. This insight sheds light on a profound truth about our human experience: we are here to embrace the full spectrum of life, including emotions and experiences that seem to contradict our divine nature.

The essence of being human lies in experiencing contrast. We understand light because of darkness, joy due to sorrow, and similarly, the divine by experiencing the non-divine. In this journey of life, fear is just as essential as love or joy. It’s not an obstacle to spiritual growth but a facet of it.


When fear arises, the approach shouldn’t be to suppress or eliminate it but to observe it with neutrality. Watching fear without judgment or bias is a practice of mindfulness. It allows us to understand fear, not as an enemy, but as a part of our human experience. This observation leads to acceptance – accepting fear as it is, not as we wish it to be.

The ultimate goal of spiritual or God-realized living is not about eradicating emotions like fear. It’s about embracing and accepting them. It’s about realizing that our spiritual nature coexists with our human emotions. Acceptance doesn’t mean passive resignation; it means understanding the nature of reality and our reactions to it. It’s about finding peace amid all experiences – both divine and human.


As we embark on this journey, let’s remind ourselves: whatever happens, let it be okay. This acceptance is not a defeat but a victory of understanding over resistance, of peace over turmoil. From Relative to Ultimate Self

In the pursuit of understanding love, especially unconditional love, we encounter a profound dichotomy between our relative self and our ultimate self. This journey from dualistic thinking to a non-dualistic state of being offered a rich terrain for philosophical exploration.

#### Relative Self: The Duality of Love and Judgment

The relative self operates in a world of dualities. Here, we are taught to “love the sinner, hate the sin,” a phrase that encapsulates our struggle to navigate the complexities of love intertwined with judgment. This perspective, while grounded in good intentions, often leads us into a labyrinth of conditional affection, where love is metered out based on perceived right or wrong.

However, this is not the endpoint of our journey with love. As relative beings, we are called to observe our actions, thoughts, and emotions without judgment or bias. This doesn’t imply a passive existence but rather an active engagement in self-awareness. It’s about understanding our reactions and biases at every stage of our development.



#### Ultimate Self: Realizing Love as the Essence of Being

Transitioning to the concept of the ultimate self, we enter a realm where the individual self dissolves into a universal consciousness. In this state, “everything is the self, and of the self,” leading to the realization that all there is, is Love – with a capital L. This Love transcends the dualities of the relative self. Unconditional love, in this ultimate sense, is not something one can force. It’s a realization that emerges as the soul matures and lets go of attachments and prejudices. It’s recognizing the self in all things and all things in the self.
