The Boundless Vastness of Nirvikalpa Samadhi

The dissolution of self is not an idea to be understood but an experience so profound that it shatters every boundary of identity. Within Nirvikalpa Samadhi, there is no longer a centre from which one observes—only an ungraspable vastness, a presence that extends beyond perception. The familiar contours of individuality dissolve, revealing an unfathomable fullness, completeness untouched by time, thought, or form.

What remains is not an absence but an infinite presence, unrestricted and immeasurable. The self, once held together by thoughts, memories, and attachments, unravels into a luminous vastness beyond comprehension. The realization dawns that nothing was ever separate, that the entirety of existence is neither contained nor containable. There is no longer an observer and the observed—only boundless awareness, aware of itself.

This state transcends concepts, yet paradoxically, it is the source from which all concepts arise. It is neither stillness nor movement, yet it holds both in its embrace. Here, the experience of time fractures, revealing a simultaneity in which past, present, and future fold into a singular, ever-present awareness. What once seemed like a world moving in sequences is now seen as a single, unbroken wholeness, an indivisible totality.

Within this reality, the illusion of separateness is replaced by an undeniable recognition: the entire cosmos is held within, just as the being is held within the cosmos. Boundaries between self and universe collapse, and what is left is an intimate knowing—everything is this, and this is everything.

Emerging from this state feels like waking from a dream so convincing that it has been mistaken for reality. The self that once seemed so solid is revealed as nothing more than a fleeting mirage. What remains is pure awareness—unfiltered, absolute, and infinite. The brilliance of this realization is the recognition of one’s Original Nature, the luminous essence beyond all veils, what some call Dharmakaya, the unmanifested ocean of infinite potential.

Amid Unseen Certainty

In the theatre of the cosmos, I find myself seated at the crossroads of belief and disbelief. On one hand, the theist, passionately defended his faith, on the other, the atheist steadfastly voiced his skepticism. I observe this dialogue as an unbiased spectator, each side offering a symphony of thoughts that forms a rich intellectual melody that resonates within me.

The perspectives of both sides, while individually lacking, together form a harmony of understanding – a beautifully balanced symphony of truths. Yet, they both remain blind to the grand paradox of The Divine. They fail to see the absolute truth that lies beyond their debates and egoic elaborations. Each side carries half-truths, their narratives incomplete. Yet, when one seeks the truth without prejudice, one will find it nestled between these opposing views.

Imagine, if this feuding pair could set aside their biases and focus on the core essence of their dispute. Perhaps then, they would reach a mutual understanding. This central concept transcends belief, yet is palpable to all. It’s the lifeblood of The Creator, the kernel of existence, a notion born from our perception of the Divine.

What I aim to unveil here will always remain shrouded in an enigma – it is a Presence that is boundless, eternal, and omnipresent. It is the canvas upon which all things are etched, the continuum that always was is, and forever will be. This Presence is indestructible, without origin or destination, with nothing to gain or lose. If it were to vanish, only Nothingness would endure, a testament to its pervasive existence.

So, what could possibly possess such omnipotence? The answer remains elusive and unattainable. All we can do is marvel at its manifestations, reflected in the world around us.

Through an enlightened lens, you’ll see that the answer permeates all things. Its existence validates your existence. Once you recognize its presence, engage with it, smile at it, and it will reciprocate in kind.

And what is this enigma that I speak of? Esteemed mystics like Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh have alluded to it. It is echoed in the sacred Upanishads. While the truth of it is simple, its revelation can evoke overwhelming wonder. Yet, its description eludes the confines of language and perplexes the contemplative mind. So, what is the answer? It is, was, and will forever be: Existence.
