The Ground of All Being

Discovering Our Universal Interconnectedness

In my teachings, I often delve into the profound concept of the interconnectedness of the universe, a principle I like to refer to as ‘The Ground of All Being’. This principle encapsulates the dynamic interaction between the microcosm and macrocosm, an endless dance of energy and consciousness that connects the smallest particle to the vastness of the cosmos.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this interconnectedness is the concept of kundalini awakening. In my view, this awakening extends far beyond the commonly known seven primary chakras. It encompasses countless other energy centres located within every atom and sub-atomic particle. This expansive view of kundalini awakening invites us to explore a broader and more intricate map of our energetic anatomy, one that connects us with the very fabric of the universe.

This concept not only enriches our perception of reality but also challenges us to broaden our understanding. It urges us to look beyond the boundaries of our current knowledge and to embrace a deeper, more holistic view of existence. In doing so, we uncover a profound truth: our oneness with the universe. This realization is more than an intellectual understanding; it is a living, breathing experience of unity and connectedness with all that is.

Through this exploration, we discover that the universe is not something separate from us. Instead, it is a reflection of our innermost being, a mirror showing us the depths of our nature. This understanding has the power to transform our perception of reality, leading us into a deeper relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

Enlightenment in Every Expression

A Nondual Perspective on Personality

In my explorations of nonduality, I’ve come to a unique understanding regarding the expression of enlightenment. Often, we hold a stereotypical image of enlightened individuals as serene and detached, yet my insights suggest a different narrative. Enlightenment, in its true essence, does not confine itself to a single demeanour or emotional state. Instead, it can express itself through a variety of personalities and emotional spectrums.

Enlightened individuals, in my view, might not always fit into the conventional mould. They could laugh heartily, engage with the world around them with fervour, and express a wide range of emotions, all while being in a state of nondual awareness. This perspective challenges the preconceived notions about how enlightenment is ‘supposed’ to be expressed.

I believe that enlightenment is not about changing who we are; rather, it is about unveiling our true nature in its purest form. It allows for a diverse range of expressions, each authentic and genuine to the individual’s personality. This insight presents a fresh, inclusive, and deeply humane view of enlightenment, where authenticity is celebrated.

In embracing this perspective, we encourage each individual to see their unique personality not as a barrier to enlightenment, but as a vehicle for it. This approach fosters a spiritual environment where every individual’s unique expression is seen as a valuable and authentic facet of their enlightened journey.

The Journey Within Embracing Nondual Suchness

In my spiritual explorations, I have come to embrace what the few would call “Nondual Suchness.” This concept represents a transformative journey of consciousness, one that transcends the need for external recognition or validation. It is a path that leads inward, towards a deep, unshakeable peace and a profound realization of universal interconnectedness.

This journey is not about reaching outward for validation or acknowledgment. Instead, it’s about turning inward for self-discovery and self-acceptance. It is here, in the quietude of our inner being, that we encounter the true essence of our existence. This exploration reveals the intrinsic rewards of our inner journey – rewards that are not given by the world but are discovered within the depths of our consciousness.

Embracing Nondual Suchness is about recognizing the interconnected fabric of all existence. It’s about understanding that every thought, every action, and every moment is intrinsically linked to the whole, simultaneously being the whole. This realization brings with it a profound sense of peace, as we begin to see ourselves not as isolated beings, but as integral parts of a larger, harmonious whole.

This path of self-discovery and self-acceptance is an invitation to all. It is a call to delve into the depths of our being, to uncover the peace and understanding that lie within. It is a journey that transforms not just our perception of ourselves, but our perception of the world around us. In embracing Nondual Suchness, we find not just peace, but a deep and abiding joy in the simple act of being.

Navigating the Infinite

My Journey Through the Layers of Nonduality

In my spiritual journey, I have come to hold a unique perspective on nonduality that deeply resonates with my personal experiences. It is a viewpoint where I see the myriad forms and phenomena of this vast universe as expressions of a singular, boundless reality. This perspective has been a guiding light in my explorations, leading me through various levels of nonduality.

Each level I have navigated has unveiled its unique insights and perspectives, enriching my understanding of existence and consciousness. These explorations have revealed to me the intricate and profound nature of reality, where every form, every phenomenon, is interconnected in a way that transcends our conventional understanding.

One of the most profound realizations in this journey has been the understanding that all perspectives on nonduality are valid. This realization came from a deep recognition that each individual’s experiences and realizations are unique expressions of their journey through the infinite landscapes of consciousness. Just as a diamond has many facets, each reflecting light in its unique way, so too does the experience of nonduality present itself in myriad forms.

This approach to nonduality respects and embraces the diversity of nondual experiences. It acknowledges that the myriad paths we tread in our spiritual journeys, with their unique revelations and insights, are all different facets of the same boundless reality. In this, there is a deep sense of unity and interconnectedness – a recognition that, in our diversity, we are expressions of the same underlying reality.

To all who walk the path of spiritual exploration, I encourage you to embrace your unique journey. Your experiences, insights, and realizations are invaluable contributions to the understanding of our collective existence. They are the threads that weave into the vast tapestry of nondual understanding, each one essential and irreplaceable.

Jungle Flower

A Beacon of Inspiration and Healing

In 2012, I had the incredible fortune of crossing paths with a remarkable soul – Jungle Flower. A former photographer, poet, speaker, writer, workshop and sound bath facilitator, Jungle is a mosaic of talents and a beacon of inspiration.

Our first meeting was at a social gathering with R.I.S.E. Edutainment members, where she played the violin with such grace, that it was as if the strings narrated stories of her deep resilience. That year also marked her first spiritual peak experience, an event I was privileged to witness.

Jungle Flower’s journey is one of remarkable courage. She has openly shared her path of healing from abuse and sexual violence through storytelling and spoken word. This journey led her to establish ‘Reclaim Your Voice’ – a BIPOC survivor-led initiative creating safe spaces for individuals to heal from abuse and sexual violence. Her symposiums, which I’ve attended and participated in, are a testament to her immense capacity for empathy and healing.

Beyond her professional achievements, it’s her heart that truly resonates. I recall a moment during our Kundalini Yoga training with Krishna Kaur. Post-session, a participant complimented Jungle Flower on her jacket. Without hesitation, she offered it to her. This act of kindness is a window into her soul.

Jungle’s journey with meditation, including becoming my student in the Yinnergy program, led to her receiving the Yinnergy Appreciation Award in 2014 for her community service. She then expanded her reach through talk radio with ‘Reclaim Your Voice’, a project I proudly sponsored.

Her accolades, including the Volunteer Toronto Legacy Award (2015), the Roger Fisher Scholarship (2016), the Write Your Self Scholarship (2017), and the Mayor’s Community Safety Award (2021), are just the tip of the iceberg. In 2019, she mesmerized a sold-out audience with her one-woman show, ‘Jungle Flower Dragon Heart’, where she shared memoirs through various artistic expressions.

Jungle Flower’s impact stretches beyond the Canadian borders, with invitations to speak at universities in the US. Her recent venture into sound baths is yet another layer of her multifaceted talent. Attending one of her sessions is an experience of deep relaxation, emotional stability, and a journey into heightened intuition and inner peace.

For those in Toronto, seeking elevation, healing, and a profound connection, I cannot recommend Jungle Flower enough. Her individual, group, and couples sessions are transformative experiences that go beyond mere relaxation.

Exploring the Depths of Absolute Monism

And its Relation to Nonduality

In my deep exploration of spiritual teachings, I’ve gained a profound insight into the nature of reality, particularly focusing on Absolute Monism and its relation to nonduality. I understand that Absolute Monism goes beyond nonduality (at least how it’s interpreted here in the West), offering a perspective that is both inclusive and expansive.

At the heart of nonduality is oneness – the interconnectivity of everything and the illusion of separateness. I often discuss this, saying, “There’s something between those two opposing views [of separation and non-separation] that is absolute; something that is neither true nor false…it just is.” This reveals that the truth of our existence lies beyond the dualistic ideas of separateness or oneness, in a realm where these notions are simply aspects of a greater truth.

In my exploration of Absolute Monism, I describe a state that transcends the oneness found in nondual teachings. It’s not about negating duality but about moving beyond the need to categorize existence as either one or many. I believe that the ultimate reality is beyond human comprehension, yet it’s inherently present in every aspect of existence. As I often say, “Everything that has ever happened and every future event that will happen is happening now in the present…but the actual present is only a made-up concept.” This points to a reality where time and space, past and future, existence and nonexistence, are all part of an eternal ‘now’ – a state that is ineffable and boundless.

Furthermore, I suggest that profound spiritual experiences, like the awakening of Kundalini, are manifestations of this absolute reality. I note, “Even kundalini and all its magnificence is only a made-up manifestation of who and what you truly are.” This means that while spiritual experiences can be transformative, they still exist within the manifest universe and aren’t the ultimate reality.

In summary, my teachings offer a unique perspective on Absolute Monism. This view transcends and includes the principles of nonduality, hinting at a reality beyond the dualistic constructs of human understanding. It points to an ultimate truth that encompasses all experiences and concepts, a truth that ‘just is’ – beyond definition, beyond separation, and oneness.

Moksha and Nirvana

Two Sides of the Same Coin in Nondual Suchness

In the realm of spiritual philosophy, the concepts of Moksha and Nirvana often emerge as distinct paths toward spiritual liberation. Moksha, a term deeply rooted in Hindu philosophy, represents liberation from the cycle of birth and rebirth (Samsara), a release from the constraints of worldly existence. On the other hand, Nirvana, central to Buddhist thought, is the state of being free from suffering and the cycle of rebirth, a culmination of enlightenment.

At the surface, these two concepts might appear as separate paths, guiding the individual through distinct spiritual journeys. However, when explored at the ultimate level of nondual suchness, a profound realization emerges: Moksha and Nirvana are, in essence, two sides of the same coin.

Nondual suchness refers to a state of consciousness where dualities and distinctions dissolve. In this state, the separation between self and other, between one spiritual goal and another, ceases to exist. It is here, in this realm of nondual awareness, that Moksha and Nirvana converge, revealing their inherent unity.

This realization transcends the apparent differences imposed by linguistic and cultural contexts. While Moksha speaks a language of liberation from the cycle of rebirth, and Nirvana talks of extinguishing the flames of desire and suffering, at their core, they both aim towards the same ultimate truth – freedom from the limitations of human existence and a reuniting with the absolute, the infinite, or the void.

Understanding Moksha and Nirvana as interconnected aspects of the same spiritual truth offers a more inclusive and comprehensive perspective on the journey toward enlightenment. It encourages a deeper exploration beyond the boundaries of religious doctrines and invites a unifying experience of spiritual awakening.

In this light, the journey towards Moksha or Nirvana is not about choosing one path over the other but about realizing the underlying unity that they both represent. It is about transcending the ego, dissolving the illusions of separation, and embracing the wholeness of existence.

In conclusion, the ultimate level of nondual suchness opens the door to a profound understanding where Moksha and Nirvana are no longer seen as separate goals but as harmonious expressions of the same ultimate reality. This realization is a pivotal moment in the spiritual journey, marking a transition from a path of seeking to a state of being, from a pursuit of liberation to the realization of inherent freedom.

The Transcendental Journey

Beyond Self and Society in Pursuit of Enlightenment

The quest for spiritual enlightenment is a profound journey that goes far beyond the realms of the individual self. It is a path that demands transcendence in its truest form – a journey that calls for us to rise above not just our identity, but also the collective constructs that define our existence. This process of transcending encompasses various aspects of life: ego, behaviour, traits, race, gender, community, religion, tradition, culture, species, opposition, and even the environment.

Transcending individuality means moving beyond the ego and the superficial traits that define personal identity. It’s about realizing that at the core, we are more than our personalities, habits, or physical attributes. This realization opens up a new way of experiencing the world, where personal biases and limitations no longer bind us.

Moreover, transcending race, gender, community, and religion involves recognizing the unity and interconnectedness of all beings. It’s about understanding that these social constructs, while significant in our worldly interactions, are not the ultimate truths of our existence. By moving past these distinctions, we embrace a more inclusive and compassionate view of the world.

Transcending tradition and culture is equally critical. It means acknowledging the value and beauty in all cultural expressions while not being limited by any single worldview. This broadens our understanding and appreciation of the diverse tapestry of human experience.

Furthermore, transcending species signifies acknowledging and respecting the interconnectedness and interdependence of all life forms. It’s an acknowledgment that human life is just a part of the vast web of existence, not separate or superior to it.

Transcending opposition and the environment involves realizing that conflict and the perception of separation from nature are illusions. True enlightenment recognizes the harmony and balance inherent in all things and seeks to foster it.

In essence, to attain spiritual enlightenment is to transcend the myriad divisions and categories that fragment our perception of reality. It’s a journey towards seeing and experiencing the underlying unity and interconnectedness of all existence. This path leads not only to personal transformation but also to a more profound understanding and relationship with the world around us.

Embracing the Paradox of Nonduality

Beyond Cherry-Picking Reality

In pursuing spiritual understanding, the concept of nonduality presents a profound paradox. This philosophy, deeply rooted in various traditions, asserts that reality is an undivided whole, transcending the usual distinctions we make between self and other, here and there, or this and that. Nonduality suggests that these separations are illusions, conceptual divisions in the seamless fabric of existence.

However, a common pitfall in approaching nonduality is what could be termed “cherry-picking.” This is where one selectively embraces aspects of nonduality that appeal to them, while conveniently discarding others. It’s akin to admiring the beauty of a rose while ignoring its thorns. Yet, true nonduality, as a concept, includes and transcends all there is. It encompasses every aspect of existence, leaving nothing out, yet paradoxically, it also transcends everything we can conceive or perceive.

The crux of understanding nonduality lies in its experiential realization. Unlike concepts that can be learned from books or teachings, nonduality must be directly experienced to be truly known. This direct experience often defies language and intellectual comprehension. It’s a state of being where the boundaries that separate the self from the universe dissolve, revealing a fundamental unity.

This direct experience of nonduality often comes in fleeting moments of profound insight or deep meditation. In these moments, the constructs of the mind fall away, and what remains is a sense of oneness with all that is. This experience can be both exhilarating and disorienting, as it challenges the most fundamental beliefs about ourselves and the world.

The journey to nondual realization is, therefore, not about acquiring new knowledge but about unlearning – letting go of the deeply ingrained patterns of thought that keep us locked in the illusion of separateness. It’s a process of deconstruction, where one sheds layers of conditioned thinking to reveal the underlying unity of existence.

In embracing nonduality, one must be wary of the temptation to cherry-pick. The whole of existence, with its beauty and brutality, its joy and suffering, is included in the nondual understanding. Nothing is excluded, yet everything is transcended. This paradox is at the heart of nonduality – a reminder that the ultimate truth lies beyond the grasp of our usual ways of thinking and perceiving.

In conclusion, nonduality offers a radical perspective that challenges our conventional understanding of reality. It invites us to look beyond our selective perceptions and embrace the totality of existence. While its true essence can only be known through direct experience, the journey toward this realization can transform our understanding of ourselves and the world.
